Granny squares are an icon of crochet. I grew up with a granny square afgan made my my grandmother, and when I learned to crochet, my first real project was a granny square afgan for my godparents. So when I started experimenting with micro-crochet, mini granny squares seemed like the perfect project to use up loads of crochet thread I've both collected and received second-hand. 
 
These granny square earrings are crocheted by hand, by myself, using cotton crochet thread and a size 1.5mm crochet hook. They are stiffened using a fabric stiffener product. They are incredibly lightweight and have a lovely dangle effect. They are the perfect earring to add a little pop of color or pizzazz to a casual or quirky outfit!
 
This set is inspired by the colors of the sweet little violets that pop up in springtime. Did you know violets are the Wisconsin state flower? They are super important for pollinators, great for making a color-changing lemonade, and besides that -- beautiful!
